Uniboard opens Canada’s first MDF mill with North America’s first continuous MDF press in Mont-Laurier, Quebec, putting the facility at the leading edge of technology. Mont-Laurier capacity adds 50 million square feet of MDF product to Uniboard’s portfolio.

Uniboard acquired a particleboard mill in Val d’Or, Quebec to significantly increase its production capacity. The Val d’Or acquisition adds 200 million square feet of raw particleboard.

1982

Innovation and modern European production technology were brought to North America when Uniboard opened the first fully integrated particleboard and TFL manufacturing facility in 1982. Located in Sayabec, Quebec, the Sayabec mill started with a state-of-the-art particleboard line and two TFL presses. Total production capacity at the time was 130 million square feet of particleboard and 60 million square feet of TFL.
