Uniboard completes the most innovative product launch in the North American TFL arena at the IWF trade fair: it launched its second Synchro/EIR finish, Riviera Oak, with a deep embossed texture called Sequoia. and a linen plate called Calico, a ''1st'' for a North American TFL manufacturer. The new finishes are complemented by 17 new colour additions to the Uniboard TFL palette making Uniboard’s line the most comprehensive TFL product in North America as a result of our $25 million investment in press #6 in our Sayabec facility.

The second phase of a major modernization project begins at Uniboard's Val-d'Or plant. An additional investment of $38.5 million will boost the plant’s competitiveness and is focused mainly on screening, sifting, milling and intermediary storage equipment.

Uniboard announces a new investment of $18 million in the development and modernization of its Mont-Laurier plant. The investment will enable a new configuration of the company’s wood fibre dryer, which features innovative technology in support of clean air and greenhouse gas reduction. The new process significantly reduces the company's CO2 emissions, while increasing the plant's production capacity.

Following a $17 million investment, Uniboard is starting up its new No. 7 press, a high-performance TFL and HPL press featuring a high level of automation and precision. The investment is in line with Uniboard's strategy and vision regarding the design, differentiation and growth of its laminated products.

Uniboard announces an investment of approximately $90 million for three of its manufacturing facilities ranging from a $53 million investment in new dryer technology at its Val-d’Or mill to a $24 million investment at its Sayabec facility for the TFL press #6 capable of deep double-sided synchronized technology and a $8 million investment in microwave technology at its Mont-Laurier facility. These investments will all come to fruition by early 2017.

Uniboard continues to lead the industry on the innovation forefront: an investment of $6 million to modernize TFL press #3 in Sayabec, doubling its capacity and increasing its flexibility to produce Uniboard’s line of signature TFL finishes; the first commercial launch of synchronized EIR panels produced at our Laval, Quebec facility; and the launch of NU Green Soya®, one of the most environmentally friendly panel products in the world.

Uniboard has invested in a melamine press at its Val-d’Or mill, significantly increasing its value-added product offering and TFL leadership position. The addition of the TFL press adds approximately 50 million square feet to Uniboard’s TFL annual capacity and provides a one-stop shop concept for its customers.

Uniboard improves its Sayabec facility with the installation of a 10’ wide continuous particleboard press and a 5th TFL press. The new particleboard line adds approximately 300 million square feet of additional capacity of raw particleboard and approximately 50 million square feet of TFL products.

Uniboard invests $120 million in a new MDF manufacturing plant. The MDF mill at La Baie, Quebec becomes the first North American facility to use a 10’ wide, 111.5’ long continuous MDF press, establishing Uniboard as the leader in the North American MDF arena. Total capacity is approximately 150 million square feet of MDF per year.
