Laval (Québec) - October 18, 2012 - UNIBOARD, a North American leader of manufactured engineered wood products, was recently accepted to the ECCTM (Eco-Certified Composite) certification program for value-added products. Last April, the Val-d'Or, Sayabec and Mont-Laurier mills satisfied the requirements of this new certification program introduced last spring by the Composite Panel Association (CPA) for particleboard and MDF panels.

To be ECC certified, each plant must first meet the strict emissions requirements of CARB Phase 2 for composite wood products. They must then comply with at least three of the five CPA requirements. The five criteria are: Carbon Footprint, Local Resources, Recycled Content, Sustainability and Responsible Wood Sourcing. Uniboard has met all five.

“Once again, we are proud to continue to make green initiatives our top priority and meet the most stringent environmental requirements in the industry,” states Sara-Kim Diotte, Product Manager at Uniboard. “We are delighted that our Sayabec and Val-d'Or mills have been accepted for the ECC certification for value-added products. In the coming weeks, we will gradually incorporate the ECC logo on all of our product packaging and marketing tools”.

Uniboard demonstrates once again its strong commitment to support the efforts of the most eco-friendly management, and meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly products.
