Laval, Quebec – April 5, 2018 - On May 22, 2017, the EPA regulations implementing the Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products Act (TSCA Title VI) came into effect, establishing in the U.S. the world’s most stringent formaldehyde emissions standards for composite wood products.

June 1, 2018 is the first major compliance date for the TSCA Title VI regulation. This is the date when all composite wood panel producers will have to meet the regulation’s emissions, testing, certification, labeling and record-keeping requirements.

In anticipation of the TSCA Title VI regulation, Uniboard has been actively preparing to ensure our North American manufacturing facilities will be compliant in terms of emissions, product labelling and documentation.  We believe the TSCA Title VI is an important milestone in environmental stewardship and Uniboard’s compliance signals to our customers that they can continue to count on Uniboard to exceed their needs.

To ensure a seamless transition to the TSCA Title VI, Uniboard will be rolling out its program in two phases: raw particleboard, MDF and HDF will be produced and labelled TSCA Title VI compliant as of April 5, 2018, well ahead of scheduled requirement.  All of our laminated products (laminated particleboard and laminated MDF) will meet the TSCA Title VI regulations in terms of labeling and documentation as of June 1, 2018.

Please note that there exists a sell-through period for CARB2 certified panels March 22, 2019 which will be deemed to be TSCA Title VI compliant.  For full information regarding TSCA Title VI or the sell-through period in the TSCA Title VI regulation, please refer to www.compositepanel.org.
