NEW MELAMINE PRESS INSTALLED AT UNIBOARD’S VAL-D’OR PLANT

Laval, September 11th, 2009 — Uniboard Canada Inc.’s management is proud to announce an investment of over $2 million, with the addition of a new melamine press at its Val-d’Or plant.

James N. Hogg, President and CEO of Uniboard, outlines that the acquisition of this press is perfectly aligned to Uniboard’s business strategy of increasing their sales of value added products in the marketplace. The new press reinforces Uniboard’s position as the leader in the North American market of thermofused melamine panel.

Gilles Lépine, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, sees this as very good news for Uniboard’s customers: “The flexibility of this new equipment, will allow Uniboard to take advantage of its key markets in Quebec, Ontario and the North Eastern USA providing a distinct competitive advantage over various competitors.”

The new melamine press will create synergies with the existing production set-up of Val-d’Or’s particleboard, renowned in the industry for its superior quality. This major investment allows the Val-d’Or plant to diversify its productivity and increase its product portfolio to include value added products destined for the furniture industry as well as kitchen and bath cabinetry. The investment will create 16 new jobs in Val d’Or.
